Are You Really Trying, or Just Going Through Familiar Motions?

Maria Quattrone Season 1 Episode 305

Have you ever asked yourself if you're really trying, or just going through familiar motions? This question transformed my business when I realized what I thought was "maximum effort" was actually just my comfortable routine.

The evidence was undeniable. Halfway through March, I'd already secured 60 listing appointments—shattering my previous monthly record of 42. This breakthrough wasn't about working harder in the traditional sense—it came from honest self-assessment and strategic reallocation of energy. Even with these remarkable results, I recognize there's still room to sharpen my skills further.

The power lies in applying the 80/20 principle with ruthless focus. When we recognize that 20% of our efforts drive 80% of our results, we can transform our productivity by expanding that critical 20% while eliminating activities that don't meaningfully contribute to success. This shift doesn't just change business outcomes—it impacts our families, personal goals, and overall quality of life.

What makes this approach sustainable is the virtuous cycle it creates: achievement builds confidence, which fuels motivation for further growth. The journey of continuous improvement gives us hope—the essential ingredient that keeps us moving forward. Take a moment today for honest self-reflection: Are you genuinely pushing your boundaries, or simply maintaining your usual pace? Your answer might reveal untapped potential that could completely transform your results.

Speaker 1:

Are we really trying or just going through the motions like normal? I asked myself this question Am I really trying? And that is how it brought me to this challenge. In the month of March, I thought I was trying and actually what I learned, here's what I learned. What I learned was I really wasn't trying. I wasn't trying that hard, I was doing at the pace I was used to doing, but I wasn't trying harder, and results speak for themselves.

Speaker 1:

So today we're halfway through the month of March and I have blown through my personal best of 42 listing appointments in the month. I'm at 60, which means I did more than the best month and we're only halfway through the month. So what does that tell you? I wasn't working at the highest level that I could. In fact, even now I know I can do better. I know I can get sharper on some of my skills, even though they're very sharp. I can still improve. See, as long as we're growing and we're expanding and we're improving ourselves each day, that's hope, and hope is what keeps us going.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to ask you again are you really trying? Are you giving it everything that you got? Sit back and really self-analyze. If you are, think about where you could have spent more time on something and wasted less time doing something over here. That really wasn't that important Because, remember, 20% of our efforts bring 80% of our business.

Speaker 1:

And what if we gave that 20%, we grew that and got rid of the 80% that doesn't matter, or as much of it that doesn't matter. What if we started focusing more on the 20% that does? How do you think that would impact your world, your business, your family, the things that you want? I bet it would seriously impact it. I'm doing it right now. I'm watching it unfold and it's actually unbelievable what's happening. It really is. So the more you do, the more you want to do, the more confidence you get. That's what it's all about. But that takes self-realization and it takes you really looking at yourself and saying am I really doing everything I can to make this better or am I just doing what I'm used to doing? Let that sit in. Think about that, and I'm curious of your thoughts on it. Drop them in the comments. Let me know what you think. Have a great night, everybody.
